Practicing and Teaching Yoga in Metairie and New Orleans

My family has lived in Metairie, LA for generations, and it feels so good to give back by teaching yoga in Metairie. A lovely, friendly suburb west of New Orleans, Metairie is filled with fun people and close communities, similar to New Orleans itself.

I love teaching and practicing yoga here because of the rich culture and lively community feeling. It's so great to live in a place where you can be yourself, smiling and singing, without people judging you - and that's the spirit of New Orleans to me, and yoga fits so perfectly into that full soul freedom.

I have had such amazing feedback from clients here who enjoy the uplifting, empowering, therapeutic yoga I teach. I’m a licensed Anusara-Inspired™ yoga teacher, and have studied with some of the most respected and skilled yoga instructors in the world. This school of yoga has revolutionized the way hundreds of thousands of people live, transforming their lives in a beautiful way.

I specialize in private yoga classes, as I really enjoy one on one or small group environments, allowing me to meet individual needs more fully than in larger classes. I tailor each practice to ensure you get the most appropriate practice and highest benefit each time.

Some days your body may want a stronger practice, while other days a more restorative or meditative practice is what’s called for. Whatever the intensity, I combine a playful, heart oriented philosophy with elegant alignment principles that move your body towards optimal health and harmony.

Consider taking private yoga sessions if you reside in Metairie, to receive the greatest benefit in the least amount of time.

Some of the reasons people choose private yoga classes include:

  • Addressing specific physiological concerns or conditions, using the alignment to inform and help you understand what to do in order to be aligned optimally, even when you’re not on your mat
  • Developing an enjoyable and safe personal practice that you can continue on your own at home or wherever you travel
  • Saving you precious time you would otherwise spend driving to class or rearranging your schedule to fit with offered classes

I come to your home when you request private yoga classes with me, so your practice fits into your schedule without wasting any time, and the environment is comfortable.

I do teach group classes, and love teaching yoga in any setting, but I have found that I excel in helping people in private settings. The feedback and repeated requests I’ve received in the past to continue serving in this way confirm the value of my services.

On top of the points I outlined above, the following are additional reasons private classes are an excellent choice:

  • Get started as a beginner to yoga or, if you are already an established practitioner, skyrocket your abilities
  • Have small family classes to include members of your household who would otherwise not be comfortable doing yoga in a class setting
  • Delve deeper with your understanding and experience into the meditative techniques and/or philosophy of yoga

I Am So Honored To Share My Skills As A Yoga Teacher

I love to help people. Truthfully, so often clients come to me after class and tell me how good they feel, and what a difference yoga has made in their lives. This is so rewarding for me! I am profoundly grateful that I am able to share what I love with such a remarkable effect and with so many people.

My dedication to my own practice, both as a student and a teacher, has led me to study with some of the greatest yoga instructors on the planet. Being able to bring their expertise and skills to you through my own teaching is such an honor.

I’m proud to say that I live in the house my grandfather and great uncle built here in Metairie. There is a heart connection that I feel with the New Orleans area and the friendly, fun and lively people who live here. I love being able to contribute!

Yoga is whatever you need most: It can bring harmony physically, mentally and emotionally, and it can lead you to a more intimate connection spiritually with what you already hold true in your heart. It is up to you what you want to concentrate on.

Yoga’s benefits are well documented and vast. It has been shown to improve health in so many areas. Your body thanks you when you expand your breath, increase your circulation, and improve your strength and flexibility. Your entire being thanks you when you decrease stress levels and seek peace of mind.

If you’re brand new to yoga or have never tried it at all, I invite you to give it a fair chance. There are so many people who at first were full of doubt, but now wouldn’t give up their yoga practice for anything. If a class setting makes you feel uncomfortable, private sessions may be the perfect solution for you to benefit from yoga.

Always choose what is best and most life enhancing for you. I truly hope your yoga practice gives you the highest health and happiness.

Maita,

I'm lovely, thank you! I hope you're feeling better. Sometimes the practice of yoga is to go easy on yourself. I find meditation and breathwork so helpful when I need to rest. Also, doing whatever yoga you feel appropriate can help to boost your immune system. Just make sure you don't push too far.

Grace,

Hi! Thanks for your question, however I have moved back to Canada now. I highly recommend Cat McCarthy at http://www.nolayoga.com, or Laura Flora, who teaches at Wild Lotus. They're not in Metairie, but they are both phenomenal teachers and well worth the travel.
